Slide Into Number Order

Pocket Puzzle is the classic 8-puzzle. The objective is to place numbers 1 through 8 in sequential reading order.

  1. Only tiles orthogonally adjacent to the open blank space can slide.
  2. Slide tiles one by one to position 1, 2, 3 across the top row.
  3. Continue with 4, 5, 6 across the middle, then 7 and 8 at the bottom left!

Sliding Puzzle Solver Strategy

Solve Row by Row

Always lock in 1, 2, 3 first. Once the top row is complete, do not disturb it! Proceed to row 2 (4, 5, 6).

Corner Tile Technique

To position tile 3, place it in position 6, bring tile 2 into position 3, then cycle the group counter-clockwise to lock both in place smoothly.
