Three is the Line

Players take turns placing X or O into any unoccupied space on the 3×3 board. Gameyard style uses Coral ● and Mint ✦ instead.

  1. Get three of your marks in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line.
  2. Block your opponent whenever they line up two in a row.
  3. If all 9 spaces fill with no three-in-a-row, it’s a draw!

Tactical Tips & Strategy

Command the Center

The center space gives you 4 winning lines (1 horizontal, 1 vertical, and 2 diagonals). Claiming it early establishes board dominance.

Create a Double Fork

By securing opposite corners, you can set up two simultaneous winning threats that your opponent cannot block at once.

How do I win?

Get three of your marks in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line before your opponent does.

Can the first player always win?

No. With perfect play on both sides, tic-tac-toe always ends in a draw. That is why corners, the center, and forks matter.

What are Coral and Mint?

Your game pieces. In Classic appearance they look like X and O; in the playful styles they are Coral and Mint tokens.
